I just bought Galaxy S2 and the battery would be bellow 50% after a few hours. My battery widget said 80 to 90 % for the screen regardless of any brightness changes or how long the screen was set to be on for. .
I bought an APP called Easy Task killer , I have Google 4.0 ice cream sandwich and was not sure it would work. i tried it and the phone has been unplugged now over 15 hours and it still reads 66% Now in my battery app the screen is showing only 24% even with the same settings. The phone works better too let me know if any one else has tried thsi

The difference with the GSM only option is that you are using the battery for the display and not the mobile network to update or download any apps, emails etc. If you check the Settings -> Battery options you will see that no other network settings have been draining the battery, only the display and other android system variables. Fantastic tip above Juvilyn!

I think the above article is superb from Liviu Anca. I was suddenly getting just 16 hours of standby time from my S2 last week, but after changing the mobile networks settings for the GSM only option above, I am only 20% down on my battery from a full charge after 45 hours and counting on standby so far! No need to purchase an ugly, heavier extended life battery this year. I need to fly abroad and this is quite reassuring to know that such thin power intensive smartphone can be so economical with its power settings adjusted in suh a subtle way.

wow, I was having this problem and decided to search for solutions in your site... it was too intense that i could not even use the phone even if it is charging, it will always turn off... after doing the GMS only option, it worked! although, I have to research yet on what is the difference between that and the other option. Thanks so much!
