In order to make sure that you successfully flash this Ametris Jelly Bean 4.1.2 custom ROM on your Galaxy S3, then you should read the guidelines below:
- use the tutorial only for the Galaxy S3 model number I9300. Don’t attempt to update any other smartphones with these files as you will brick them.
- Your phone has to be rooted and running a custom Recovery image such as ClockworkMod CWM or TWRP Recovery.
- Use the Custom Recovery mode to create a NANDROID backup of the current ROM. If you don’t know how to do it, then you can find the correct instructions in the tutorial.
- The ‘how-to’ guide will ask you to wipe the data and factory reset your device. This means that you will lose the contents stored on the /system partition. That is why you might want to backup SMS, Call Logs info or APN Internet Settings using these tools: SMS backup & restore | Call Logs backup & restore | APN Settings Backup & Restore | AppBack for Android application. Root access will be required for some of these tools.
- Sync the Contacts data with the Gmail account that you’re using with your Galaxy S3.
- Make sure that your device has the USB Debugging option enabled.
- The battery power charging level should be over 50% so that the phone won’t switch off in the middle of the updating process.
- Don’t blame us in case something goes wrong and you lose data or you brick the phone in the process.
- Ask for extra help in comments in case you cannot complete the custom ROM installation.
These were all the preparation steps that you had to go over before continuing to the ‘how-to’ tutorial guide. If you hit any roadblocks or you can’t seem to understand what all the steps are asking you to do, then you can leave a detailed comment at the end of this post and we will try to offer you a viable solution and help you flash all the custom OS files.
