So, by completing this step by step guide you can learn how to easily flash ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery on Sony Xperia Z and all thanks to those of xda-developers who had just made available the CWM recovery tool for the Xperia Z.

CWM recovery is one of the most popular custom recovery image used for the Android platform being a tool that can be installed on almost any Android based smartphone or tablet. Of course you must follow and apply a guide that is suitable with your device, or else you can brick the same as installing CWM recovery is being considered a complex and risky operation. Therefore stick to the lines from below and do not apply something by yourselves without consulting my directions.

After installing ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery on your Xperia Z you will be able to perform several operations that cannot be completed while using the stock recovery. So, you will be able to easily make a Nandroid backup, perform restoration procedures, wipe the system, optimize or customize the performances, install .zip files, operate maintenance tasks and a lot more. Also, flashing CWM recovery is the last step to do if you want to update your Sony Xperia Z with a custom ROM firmware, or with a custom kernel.

But for being able to complete this step by step guide you first need to unlock the bootloader and root your Xperia Z. Suitable guides for applying the same are being explained here on Android.gs, so don’t hesitate and use our tutorials (use the links from the introduction).

Well, here is what you need to know related to the root and unlocking bootloader procedures: once you apply one of the mentioned operations the warranty of your device will get void. You can restore the warranty by unrooting and by re-locking the bootloader, or by updating / downgrading to official Android OS; then the root access will be revoked and the bootloader relocked. Also, after gaining root access and unlocking the bootloader you will not be able to apply future OTA updates on your Xperia Z. So, in order to enjoy the official firmware you will have to manually install the software on your smartphone.

In order to avoid the unpleasant situations that might occur while installing CWM recovery on your Sony Xperia Z I recommend you to backup the data which is being saved on the internal storage memory. Also, take care of other thighs such as: make sure that a Windows running computer is near you; deactivate the security protection (uninstall the antivirus and similar programs) from your computer and handset; enable the USB debugging option on your phone and charge its battery in case you notice that there is less than 60% power left.

Don’t forget that this is not a general tutorial. The steps from below are being suitable only with the Sony Xperia Z smartphone. So, do not apply the same for installing CWM recovery on a similar handset as you will risk in bricking your device.
