Install StarKissed Kangerade Kernel on Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250

The StarKissed Kangerade is a custom kernel that has been designed for the Galaxy Nexus I9250. Use this tutorial and learn how to successfully flash the custom kernel on your smartphone without bricking the device. It is a kernel that works with Jelly Bean-based devices. Read all the info in this post and you should be able to flash the new kernel at your first attempt.

TwistedUmbrella, an XDA member and developer, is the one who released the StarKissed Kangerade custom kernel. It is multi-source tool that is based on Linux v3.0.54 and it packs 10 governors: InteractiveX, Sakuractive, HotplugX, PegasusQ, OndemandX, Lulzactive(q), Abyssplug, Fantasy, Savagedzen and Adaptive. This kernel also features SIO and VR schedulers. It isn’t the final version and you should only use it only if you’re an advanced Android user. It is not a kernel for rookies as it still features some bugs that will make your phone freeze or randomly reboot.

In order to successfully flash this Starkisses Kangerade custom kernel on your Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250, you will first have to go over the guidelines listed below:

  • this is a tutorial that will work only with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus model number I9250. Do not attempt to install it on any other variant of Galaxy Nexus as you will brick it.
  • Your phone should be rooted and running a custom Recovery image such as CWM Recovery. Without these you won’t be able to flash the custom Kernel file.
  • Create backups of all the current data files that are currently stored on your smartphone. The tutorial might wipe data from your device.
  • Enable the USB debugging option for your device.
  • Charge the phone’s battery so that it won’t power off during the installation process of custom kernel.
  • Make sure that your computer has the Samsung USB drivers installed.
  • It would also be best for you to create a full NANDROID backup of your current ROM. This will act as a restore point for your smartphone in case something goes wrong during the installation process.
  • The tutorial will teach you how to create a NANDROID backup in case you don’t know how to do it. In case you don’t want to do a backup then you shouldn’t be mad in case you brick your device and then you have no option to restore it to a working state.
  • This is a guide for advanced Android users and for those power-users who are constantly looking for guide that will improve the performance of their devices.
  • Don’t blame us in case something goes wrong and you can’t boot your device after installing StarKissed Kangerade custom kernel.
  • Also, we can’t be held responsible if you brick the phone or you lose important data files during the installation process.
  • Ask for more help in comments if you’re unable to complete the tutorial.

I think that these were all the instructions you had to go over before installing this new kernel. Make sure that you apply all the steps below.

Test your phone and its battery life with this new kernel, then return to our website and tell us if like how this new component performs on your smartphone. This is a tool only destined to be used by Galaxy Nexus I9250 users. Do not attempt to flash the same kernel on other smartphones as you will end up bricking the device.

There shouldn’t be any problems with this kernel, but if you do experience ‘sleep of death’, reboots or any other bugs, then you should follow this XDA thread link and ask for more help from the Star Kissed Kangerade developer himself. Also, there you will tons of other helpful tips and tricks on how to improve the overall performance of your device.

Use all the Kernel settings and configure them so that you’ll get the best performance out of your device. However, you should only begin to change settings for governors, voltages, scheduler etc only after you read the whole XDA thread. That is why you should use this guide only if you’re an advanced Android user who has tons of experience with other custom Kernels.

Keep an eye on our website as we will try to post new and better custom Kernels for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250. If you have any other problems then you can ask for help in comments and we will try to come up with a viable solution for them. If you do like this custom kernel, then you should head to xda forums and thank its developer for his great work.

We can’t be held responsible in case your device is bricked in the process nor can be blamed in case you lose important data files. That is why you should move all your data on to your computer, and only after you complete the installation you should use the USB cable and restore the data files back on your smartphone.
