Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA Update for Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint Galaxy S3 Soon to come

samsungsIIIjellybean

While the new ICS VRALHE OTA update was leaked for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 many of us were wondering when the highly expected Jelly Bean OS will be coming for the same device. Now, we can almost respond to this question as the latest info are giving clues about a soon to come release of the Android 4.1 firmware for the US retails that are offering the Galaxy S3. I am talking about Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and more, which should provide the OTA update in the coming months.

This is great news, especially if we consider the sales of the S3 registered by Samsung in US, though many customers are tired of waiting. That’s why most of them had already updated their devices with Jelly Bean based custom ROMs (you can find suitable guides by searching through our how to section too), firmware which of course can’t provide the same Android experience that is being featured by an official OS.

Anyway, leaving these aspects aside, the Jelly Bean OTA update for the US Galaxy S3 (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint versions included) will probably be offered during the next few months, an exact date being hard to predict. This because each retail will test the ROM before launching it, so we will have different dates for the same update. That’s why if you own a Verizon S3 you will not receive the Jelly Bean update at the same time with the T-Mobile devices, or with the ones provided by Sprint or AT&T.

Furthermore, according to our sources, there is no info about how you will be able to apply the Android 4.1 OS, the OTA and KIES variant being both speculated. That’s all we could find so far, so what do you say, will the upgrade be pushed by the end of the year, or we will have to wait “just” a little bit more? I don’t mind waiting for the next OS update, but these vague updates at 60+ mb with no specifics about what they do…that’s not the professional way to do business.

If you’re on T-mobile and try to check for updates, you’re presented with a new, suspicious message since October 17. Calling customer service revealed that T-mobile is rolling out the updates between October 17 and November 30.
What wasn’t clear was whether this was a full network rollout or just the test period. Either way though, T-mobile users should hopefully see by the end of the year :)
