LG has failed to make an official statement about the update that its now being pushed to the owners of the 8.3-inch tablet, but according to the users who already installed it on their G Pad 8.3 units it arrives with the usual KitKat goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, cloud printing, immersive mode, full screen album art in lockscreen, and updates for many of LG’s native apps.
The first user who mentioned about the Android 4.4.2 v50020A update for LG G Pad 8.3 said he received it through the LG Support too, therefore the update might not be currently available for OTA download. Anyway, before grabbing the USB cable and check for the update through LG’s PC companion, it’s also worth checking for it manually to see if it’s available OTA as well. You can do it under Settings > About device > Software update > Check now.
Just like any other software update, the new firmware is being rolled out in phases, meaning that some of you might not be able to download it right away. Usually it takes days or weeks for new firmwares to spread on all markets. For the time being, there’s no mention about the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update being rolled out for the US variants of the LG G Pad 8.3.
