Soon after Google rolled out the latest Android firmware for the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Editions, the Mountain View-based giant is now pushing the Android 4.4.2 OTA update for the recently-announced LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.
The LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is getting updated to Android 4.4.2 KOT49H, which is the same build that has been rolled out for the supported Nexus devices a while ago. Unfortunately, there’s no official change log for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update, but it looks like the new firmware comes to fix the bugs that were affecting the handset.
As usual, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update for LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is being rolled out in stages, which means that not all the owners will be able to download and install it on their devices right away. If the Android 4.4.2 KitKat system update message didn’t pop up in the notification area of your LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, you can also check for it manually. In order to do so you must head to Settings > About tablet > System Update and hit the Check now button.
If the manual check has no results for you, you can also download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition from Google’s servers and push it to your device using either adb sideload or a custom recovery. It’s also worth mentioning that if you previously rooted your LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition the root access will be removed once you install Android 4.4.2 KOT49H, but you will be able to easily re-root it by flashing the latest Super SU version.
