LG today formally announced that it has started accepting pre-bookings for the new G6 flagship smartphone. The smartphone will be going on sale in the country next week, i.e. April 29th onwards. While LG hasn’t confirmed the pricing yet, a Mumbai-based retailer has revealed that the G6 will carry a market operating price of Rs.51,990 ($804). That’s around a week earlier than the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ release date for the Indian market.
As is usually the case with fresh launches, LG is offering some pretty attractive deals on the G6 for the Indian consumers. Those of you who have an HDFC or SBI card, will be able to get up to Rs.7000 cashback when purchasing the G6. Additionally, LG is offering a 50% discount on the Tone Active+ HBS-A100 headset when purchased along with the G6. That’s not all though. Customers will be receiving EA special gifts worth Rs.14,100 for a total of six games as well as free one time screen replacement within the first six months of purchase. Three color options are expected to be offered in India – Astro Black, Ice Platinum, and Mystic White.
LG’s latest flagship smartphone, the G6 features a large 5.7-inch “Full Vision” display with a near bezel-less front panel and a unique 1440 x 2880 Quad HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core SoC under the hood, with the Adreno 530 GPU taking care of graphics processing. The G6 retains a dual-camera setup at the back, but both units offer 13MP resolution this time. On the front is a 5MP snapper for selfies, offering a 100-degree wide-angle FoV. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The battery inside the handset is a 3300mAh unit, which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging standard. As expected from a 2017 flagship, the G6 runs on Android Nougat out of the box, although not the newer 7.1.1 version.
