LG Optimus 2X gets its first Official CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies ROM

LG Optimus 2X gets its first CM10 Nightly ROM

Owners of LG Optimus 2X smartphones can now install the CM10 Nightly build on their devices, as the CyanogenMod team has managed to launch the first Nightly build ROM.

The LG Optimus 2X doesn’t even have an official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update from LG, but it seems like they will be able to get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean thanks to CM10. This is a custom ROM that has been announced by Ricardo Cergueira and it seems like the CM10 Nightly build for Optimus 2X will become a regular thing and you should keep an eye on get.cm for the latest version.

A ‘nightly build of CM10′ is a ROM that is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and, if it is an official release by CyanogenMod team, then it should be launched on a daily basis. This means that with every release it should get better and better until it reaches its first M build by CM. That one is the monthly release by CyanogenMod team and it means that the ROM has become stable and you can really test its functions to the maximum.

As you know, the previous CyanogenMod ROM for LG Optimus 2X was the CM7 and this means that the CM9 has been completely overlooked. Also, you should know that the device that you can update with CM10 Nightly is the LG Optimus 2X model number P990. Other Optimus 2X models should receive cyanogenmod-based ROMs in the next couple of weeks.

If you’re planning of installing this new custom ROM then you should know that you can only make it if your device is currently running a Gingerbread or Froyo bootloader on your LG Optimus 2X, which means that devices that are currently running an ICS ROM should be rolled back to former Android 2.X OS.

LG Optimus 2X can be updated with CM10 Nightly ROM by downloading the latest build from get.cm web site ( here ), and then booting into custom recovery mode. Wipe the data and factory reset the device and after that you can flash the CM10 ROM. Note that you will also have to flash the latest Google Apps file for Jelly Bean ( link here ).

If you’re unsure about the steps that you have to take, then you shouldn’t attempt to update and, instead, keep an eye on our website as we will shortly post a guide that teaches you how to upgrade your Optimus 2X P990 phone to CM10 Nightly without any problems.

  • Crytek

Is there any major drawback like on CM9 you couldnt record video at 1080p?

    • Lgdev

yep wont record in 1080p, and it needs a smart flash to change bandbase to v28e or u MAY get noisy/bad quality phone calls. I stress the point may… Also sometimes phone might turn off randomly or screen might come on randomly like the phone is possessed… That is all,but its very smooth and much faster than other cm roms. Before any1 says it was done on clean install and if u say u dont experience these problems, wait and watch or u dont use your phone enough to notice. Keep up with the updates on: http://get.cm/?device=p990 . the roms are getting better every day and tbh im happy with it now for daily use
