When a company is about to release a new product it offers just some spoilers before the actual launch (like some specs, or the name of the device itself). However, in many occasions, people got to know all about a certain handset ahead of the official announcement.
The story repeats itself as a Korean website provides leaked information about a new series of smartphones developed by LG. The LG Optimus L3, L5, and L7 are not that impressive in terms of looks, being rather odd. Nevertheless, the company has managed to sell over 10 million units, aspect which lead to an upgrading idea. Yes, the series is going back on the market, this time with some improvements aboard.
There are several enhancements that LG implemented when it comes to hardware, but there a few which stand out. For example, the L7 2 will come with an extra core in its new 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8225 CPU, the rear camera will be an 8MP one (3 extra megapixels) and the battery will be upgraded from 1700mAh to 2,460mAh. The only disappointing thing is that the RAM still remains at 768, which is pretty unusual because if you’re gonna make an upgrade it’s better to do it all the way.
The Optimus L5 2 has also been upgraded from its 800MHz A5 processor to a 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU. Also, the GPU performance received a little bit of attention, as well, now being PowerVR SGX531.
Finally, the LG Optimus L3 2 will come with a new 3.2-inch TFT display, a new 1GHz single-core processor, and a 5 megapixel shooter.
Another important aspect is that all three devices will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Plus, the L5 2 and L7 2 are expected to have a dual-SIM version, too. This is good marketing coming from LG, as the smartphones will become very interesting for people who travel abroad, especially in a case like this when we are talking about low-end devices.
The pricing for all three phones is not going to be a problem as you can get a SIM-free L3 for around $157, the L5 will cost $204 and the L7 around $235. So, you realize that you will have a lot less on contract.
