Last month, South Korea consumer electronics company LG introduced its Q-series mid-range lineup comprising of the Q6+, Q6, and the Q6?. The Q series offers the same FullVision display as the company’s flagship G6, although with a smaller screen size as well as lower resolution. In India, LG will be launching the Q6 model, which will be sold online exclusively by Amazon India. This was recently confirmed by the online retailer. According to the promotional banner released by Amazon India, it looks like the smartphone will be available for purchase in India starting August 10th.
The LG Q6 features a 5.5-inch FullVision display with 1080 x 2160 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio, resulting in a pixel density of 442 pixels per inch. Powering the mid-range smartphone is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz, with an Adreno 505 GPU powering the graphics. In terms of memory, the Q6 includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded by up to 2TB with a microSD card. Unlike the G6, the Q6 comes with a single 13MP rear camera, coupled with an LED flash. On the front is a 5MP resolution selfie snapper with a 100-degree wide-angle lens.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and 4G VoLTE. A 3000mAh capacity battery provides fuel to the internals, which isn’t all that bad for a mid-range device. Thanks to the “bezel-less” front design, the Q6 is very compact for a smartphone with a 5.5-inch display. It measures 142.5 x 69.3 x 8.1mm and weighs in at 149 grams. On the software front, LG Q6 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with the custom LG UX layer running on top.
The Q6 comes in Astro Black, Ice Platinum, Mystic White, and Terra Gold. Whether or not LG launches the Q6 in all the four color options in India, remains to be seen. According to rumors, the handset will be priced at Rs.19,990 ($313). While the FullVision display is no doubt a distinctive selling point, the internals aren’t all that great for the price. We sure hope the actual price will be slightly lower.
