If you happen to own a Moto G you should keep your eyes on the notifications area, as the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now being pushed to your device. Even though the Moto G was launched less than a month ago, running Android 4.3, Motorola informs now that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is being rolled out for their affordable entry-level handset.
According to the official changelog posted on Motorola’s website, the Moto G Android 4.4.2 update brings most of the KitKit-specific enhancements and changes, plus updates for Motorola’s pre-installed apps.
As soon as you download and install Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your Moto G you should be able to notice the UI improvements such as restyled status and nav bars, the full-screen “immersive” mode, emoji, and the new phone dialer, which allows you to to look up contacts directly from the dial pad, see and tap frequent contacts, and search your corporate directory easily.
The focus and the exposure of the Camera were also improved, along with the enhanced the “touch to focus” option with a new circular, on screen control that can be dragged by your finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo’s focus and exposure.
The Android 4.4.2 update for Moto G also brings photo editing in the Gallery app, documents and photo printing, SMS/MMS integration in Hangouts, and support for Square credit card reader.
Just like it happens with most OTA updates, Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Moto G is pushed in phases, therefore you might not be able to download and install it on your device right away. If you didn’t receive the update notification yet, you can also try checking for it manually under Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check Now.
