Moto X Up for Pre-order at Best Buy, Priced $199 with Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint Two-year Agreement

You probably are aware of the fact that Motorola has officially introduced the Moto X, but you probably don’t know that the highly anticipated smartphone co-developed by Google and Motorola is already available for pre-order. Neither Google nor Motorola revealed when the smartphone will become available for purchase, that’s why the ETA of the pre-order is yet unknown.

During the Moto X launch event the officials of the companies that manufactured the smartphone said that it will be available at five US carriers and that it can also be purchased through Best Buy and some other retailers. Learn that Best Buy is now accepting pre-orders for the Moto X and that it can be purchased both on and off contract.

Just like it was initially anticipated, the off-contract price of the Moto X matches the ones of the premium smartphones, as the new Motorola flagship has a price tag of not less than $699.99 at Best Buy.

Of course, if you want to get it at a subsidised price, you will have to sign a two-year agreement with either Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint. In this case, the Moto X price with 16 GB of storage is $199. You’ve probably heard that the Moto X design is highly customizable, but the customizations don’t apply to the Moto X units purchased thorough Best Buy as there are only two body colors available: Black and White.

You might also want to know that neither of the three aforementioned carriers listed the Moto X as available for pre-order, but they all said that the new handset will be available soon. By “soon” they probably mean late August or early September.

On the North American market, US Cellular is the first and only carrier to have the Moto X available for pre-order. Moreover, US Cellular has a $75 discount for new subscribers and those of you who are among the first to pre-order the Moto X will get free Motorola headsets.

It wouldn’t be nice to talk about the new Moto X and not to mention anything about its technical specifications, so hear that the handset comes with a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with HD resolution and Magic Glass protection, while being underpinned by Motorola’s 8X chip which is based on a Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with two Krait cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and Adreno 320 GPU.

The Moto X also comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal storage, while sporting a 10 megapixel camera with Clear Pixel technology which promises great performance in low light conditions. The Clear Pixel camera of the Moto X also comes with LED flash, autofocus, 1.4 µm pixel size, HDR, panorama, and 1080p@30 fps video recording support.

The new Android-powered smartphone is measures 5.6 mm at its thinnest point and 10.4 mm at its thickest point because of its curved back that accommodates a 2,200 mAh battery that is capable to get it through 24 hours of moderate usage.

Moto X is running almost-stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and even though it keeps the stock Android interface, it comes with some Motorola-specific features like always-on voice commands, Active Display, and a gesture-based interface for the camera app.

Anyway, the biggest selling point of the new Moto X will be its highly customizable body. You will be able to choose from two colors for the front panel (white and black), 18 colors for the back cover, and even choose the color of various elements like accents (volume rocker, power button, and camera ring) or headphones.
