Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX got its own Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA Update

Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX are now updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The official update of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been pushed ‘over-the-air’ today by Motorola for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX. Check your phone’s About device menu to see if the OTA update has been pushed out for it, or you can choose to wait until the official notification is sent to your phone.

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will bring the Google Now, expandable notifications, offline speech to text, better and improved voice search and multiple tweaks and improvements added to the UI. We have no reports regarding the battery life while running on the first Jelly Bean 4.1 stock ROM.

This will be an OTA update that will be launched in phases so you shouldn’t expect the new firmware to be launched directly to your device today. If you didn’t get the update then you can easily check manually to see if the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is available for your Droid RAZR or DROID MAXX by opening Settings, then About Phone. In this menu you will find the info regarding the OTA Update availability. Do not panic in case the update isn’t available for you today, as Motorola┬ápromised that every phone should get it in the next days.

Note that in case your Motorola Droid RAZR / Droid RAZR MAXX is rooted or running any custom ROMs then you won’t get the final OTA Update notification for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. If you want to update your device to this stock JB build, then you should first restore your device to stock Ice Cream Sandwich ROM or, you can choose to wait until custom ROM developers will launch new builds for their modified operating systems so that you will be able to test the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Tell us in comments if your Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR MAXX got the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA Update. If it did, then you should test all the new functions such as Google Now, voice search etc.

For owners in India, Motorola has confirmed that the devices would not be getting the 4.1 update. Is there a work around? ( rooting and installing the US release? )
