The Motorola Moto E4, which was made official last month along with the Moto E4 Plus, is now up for grabs in India. While Motorola hasn’t formally announced the launch of the Moto E4 in the country, retailers across India have reportedly started receiving stock already. According to a video posted on Twitter by Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, the smartphone carries a maximum retail price of Rs.8,999 ($139) in India. The actual market operating price, on the other hand, will be slightly lower. There is no info yet regarding online availability either, but we do expect Motorola India to announce detailed availability info for both the Moto E4 and the Moto E4 Plus soon.
Unlike previous budget Android smartphones from Motorola, the new Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus both feature premium metal bodies and come with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front. The Moto E4 features a 5-inch Full Lamination display with a pretty decent 70% NTSC color gamut coverage and 720 x 1280 HD resolution. The display features a layer of 2.5D curved glass on top, just like most other smartphones on the market currently. Powering the E4 is MediaTek’s MT6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. It has been coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.
For an entry-level smartphone, the Moto E4 is quite decent in the camera department. It features an 8MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens and an LED flash while on the front it comes equipped with a 5MP fixed focus unit paired to an f/2.2 aperture lens. There is even a dedicated LED flash on the front for taking selfies in low-light conditions. Connectivity specs are quite basic, which is to be expected. You get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 2800mAh capacity removable battery with fast charging support. The Dual SIM handset comes with a water-repellant coating as well, making it somewhat resistant to liquid damage. As for the software, Moto E4 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box, offering an almost stock Android experience. The handset comes only in two colors – Iron Grey and Fine Gold.
