New Android 4.3 Update for Sony Xperia Z Rolling out at T-Mobile, Brings UI and App Enhancements

Even though it’s not the much-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Sony Xperia Z, the new firmware that it’s now being rolled out for T-Mobile users brings a handful of interface and app tweaks.

T-Mobile officially announced on their support page that the Sony Xperia Z is getting a new software update labeled 10.4.C.0.808. The new firmware is still based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but it arrives with a couple of interesting enhancements.

According to the official changelog posted on the aforementioned support page, the new Android 4.3 update for T-Mobile Xperia Z arrives with user interface improvements, while adding the option to perform a master reset using the hardware keys. The 10.4.C.0.808 update for Xperia Z also moves the Music Unlimited app to the Walkman application and the Play Memories app to the Album application.

As usual, the new update will be rolled out in stages, meaning that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. Once your T-Mobile Xperia Z becomes eligible to receive the 10.4.C.0.808 update you should receive a message in the notification area. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively you can perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software update > Check now or you can grab the USB cable, connect your Sony Xperia Z to the PC and check for the new software through the Sony PC Companion.

T-Mobile also notes that the new Android 4.3 update for Xperia Z has a size of 312 MB and that your handset needs to have at least 50% battery left in order to complete the install. Furthermore, we are recommending you to download the update file using a stable WiFi connection in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
