In a new article published on VentureBeat, smartphone leakster Evan Blass has shared the “final” specifications of the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The new report basically confirms all the details that were revealed in a previous report published on the same website, while adding a few new details.
The Galaxy Note 8 will feature a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with curved edges on both sides and the same 1440 x 2960 QHD+ resolution in a 18.5:9 aspect ratio as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. However, the corners of the display on the Galaxy Note 8 will be more squared-off. Thanks to the tiny bezels on the top and bottom of the handset, it will be a lot more compact than a traditional smartphone with a 6.2” or 6.3” display. It will measure 162.5 x 74.6 x 8.5mm, making it only slightly bigger than the Galaxy S8+ in terms of size.
Under the hood, Galaxy Note 8 will be powered by Samsung’s in-house developed Exynos 9 8895 octa-core chipset in most markets around the world. In the US, the phablet will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. While the Galaxy Note 8 will not be more powerful than the Galaxy S8, it will boast superior multitasking performance thanks to being equipped with 6GB of RAM. As for storage, the report claims the Note 8 will ship with 64GB of onboard expandable storage.
Moving on to imaging, the Galaxy Note 8 will include two 12MP resolution cameras at the back. The primary sensor will be paired with an f/1.7 aperture lens while the secondary telephoto lens will be coupled with an f/2.4 aperture lens. The dual-camera arrangement will allow the Note 8 to offer 2x optical zoom. Both the sensors will be optically stabilized, which is certainly very impressive. For taking selfies, the phablet will offer an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens.
Powering all the hardware inside will be a 3300mAh capacity battery with support for fast wired as well as wireless charging. The phablet will also be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, just like the Galaxy S8 duo. Initially, the report claims Samsung will ship the Note 8 in Midnight Black and Maple Gold colors. These two colors will be followed by Orchid Grey and Deep Sea Blue. In Europe, it is expected to begin shipping in September and will cost around 1,000 EUR. Samsung will be officially unveiling the Galaxy Note 8 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City on August 23rd.
