The Sony Xperia Honami is one of the most anticipated Android-powered smartphones of the second half of the year, along with the LG G2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While we know that the LG G2 and the Galaxy Note 3 will be launched on August 5th and September 4th, respectively, the Samsung Xperia Honami release date is still a mystery.
Fortunately, the Sony camera phone is subject to a lot of leaks and today we get to see a new batch of leaked photos that are revealing the 20 megapixel sensor of the Xperia Honami.
Early rumors suggested that the Sony Xperia Honami will mark the return of the CyberShot brand on the phone market, but it looks like the new smartphone of the Japanese company will use a G Lens instead, as the CyberShot branding is nowhere to be found on its back lid.
A series of Sony Xperia Honami leaked photos that hit the web yesterday has revealed that the new camera phone will borrow the design of the Xperia Z flagship, also coming with a glass body. It looks though that the Xperia Honami will not be water and dust proof and that it will ditch the aluminum bezel around the edges.
Most of the Xperia Honami leaks were about its camera, just like the ones you can see in the gallery below. So far, we know that he Sony Xperia Honami’s sensor will sport G Lens, Bionz processing, an augmented reality mode with pretty cool effects, Exmore RS technology, and with a bit of luck full HD video capture at 60 fps. If Moto X can do it, why won’t Sony’x Honami camera phone.
The rumor mill speculates that the Sony Xperia Honami will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset based on a quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. Also expect 2 GB of RAM and all the connectivity options worthy of a modern smartphone like LTE, NFC chip, Bluetooth 4.0, and IR blaster. It seems that the Xperia Honami will sport a 5-inch full HD display with a Triluminous panel.
The camera phone market will be pretty crowded this year. We already have the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and its 16 megapixel sensor with 10x optical zoom and the Nokia Lumia 1020 with a 41 megapixel PureView sensor and I am pretty sure that the Xperia Honami will be a fierce competitor of them.
