Google has launched the official Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update official update worldwide for Nexus 4. Along with the OTA Update we have also found out that the ‘Update zip’ file for ‘adb sideloading’ is ready for download.
Check your smartphone’s notification panel starting today and be the one of the first Nexus 4 owners to complete the installation.
There aren’t any major changes added with this release. The KTU84L KitKat 4.4.3 for Nexus 4 brings mostly bug fixes and tweaks for a smoother UI and better overall OS stability. The only noticeable change would be the new Dialer app which adds news colors for blank contacts cards and a better looking dialing screen.
This update will roll out in stages, so not all Nexus 4 owners will get the new firmware files right away. But, they shouldn’t worry as this Android 4.4.3 is available as an update.zip file, too. This means that it can be installed via adb sideload using your phone’s stock Recovery or, if you have a custom Recovery then you should simply need to copy the KTU84L firmware zip file to your phone’s internal sdcard and install it from within.
You can check yourself for new updates using the ‘System Updates’ menu in Settings. If there is any new Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Update available then you simply have to confirm the download and then the Nexus 4 will take care of the rest automatically.
If you don’t want to wait for the official OTA Update to be pushed for your device and instead you’re planning of flashing the update zip file, then you need to know that this can be done only if your Nexus device runs the previous Android 4.4.2 KitKat KOT49H. The new update cannot be installed on older builds of Android 4.4.2, check the ‘Build Number’ value of your phone’s firmware by going through Settings> About Phone.
For users that want to manually flash this update only: download the Android 4.4.3 KitKat KTU84L update zip from Google’s servers here.
After the update is completed you should tell us if there are any major changes you’ve spotted while testing it.
UPDATE: if you want to learn how to manually install Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for Nexus 4, then you should follow all the instructions listed in this post here.
