Even though the Mountain View-based phone maker didn’t introduce its next-gen flagship smartphone on the October 24 event, new information about the Nexus 5 release date surfaced. Unfortunately, it’s not from an official source.
The folks at MobileSyrup have received an anonymous tip which revealed that the Nexus 5 will debut in Google Play Store as of October 31. The same tipster also claims that the Nexus 5 will make it to various Canadian mobile operators starting November 7. According to MobileSyrup the LG handset will be available at Rogers, Bell, Telus, Koodo, and Virgin.
Of course, there is now way to confirm whether the information is true, but it’s worth mentioning that it checks with the previous rumors saying that the Nexus 5 will become available for purchase in Google Play on October 31.
We remind you that the same Canadian publication leaked a Telus Nexus 5 photo a couple of weeks ago.
In case you missed the latest Nexus 5 rumors I remind you that the smartphone co-developed by Google and LG is expected to pack a 5-inch 1080p LCD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with quad-core 2.3 GHz CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal storage, and an 8 MP camera with optical image stabilization.
In terms of connectivity the handset will have all the functions worthy of a modern smartphone, including LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, NFC, and microUSB 2.0. According to sources in the industry, the smartphone will be powered by a 2,300 mAh battery.
A few days ago Nexus 5 made a brief appearance in Google Play which revealed that the 16 GB variant will have a price of $349.
If the rumor is true and the Nexus 5 will go on sale in Play Store on October 31, then the official announcement shouldn’t be too far away. As you probably know, the Nexus 5 is expected to debut synchronized with Android 4.4 KitKat.
