Nexus 7 2013 Android 4.4.2 KOT49H OTA Update Now Available for WiFi-only and WiFi+LTE Models

Earlier today, Google begun the roll out of the Nexus 7 2013 Android 4.4.2 update for both the WiFi-only and the LTE-enabled variants of the tablet. The Nexus 7 2013 got updated to Android 4.4.2 KOT49H in the same time with the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 2012.

As you’ve probably guessed, the Android 4.4.2 OTA update for Nexus 7 2013 is being rolled out in stages, so not all the users will be able to upgrade their tablets in the same time. If you didn’t receive the system update notification already, you might be lucky enough to be ale to upgrade to Android 4.4.2 after performing a manual check. In order to perform a manual check you must head to Settings > About tablet > Software updates then tap on the Check now button.

After you download and install Android 4.4.2 on your Nexus 7 2013 the firmware build number will be changed from KRT16S to KOT49H, or from KOT49E to KOT49H if you previously upgraded your tablet to 4.4.1.

If you are currently running KOT49E then the update file size will be around 2 MB, while the KOT49H update file size for the users running KRT16S is around 60 MB.

Alternatively, you can update your Nexus 7 2013 to Android 4.4.2 KOT49H by downloading the respective OTA ZIP file from this article then force the update on your device using either adb sideload or a custom recovery like TWRP.

If you are worried about losing data you should know that the Nexus 7 2013 Android 4.4.2 KOT49H update won’t wipe anything on your device. Anyway, you should do a back-up, just in case. You might also want to know that the KOT49H OTA update for Nexus 7 2013 will uroot your device, but you can regain root access by flashing the latest version of Super SU.

    Decided not to sideload because it might interfere with the normal update process. But I am not sure can anyone comment on this? Will this cause problems with the warranty
