Although you may think that a Google Nexus 7 release date article is old news, it’s not the case for all people. While the customers from Europe and North America have been able to buy the tablet for a long time, the Android fans in India are still waiting for the Nexus 7. However, it seems that the waiting will stop soon as the handset is finally in stock at the Indian Google Play Store.

The local Play Store has recently made books available, and now it looks like it’s moving forward and takes it to the next level offering devices, as well. For now, just the Nexus 7 is available, but we expect that others will follow because I’m sure that the Indians want the Nexus 4 too, for instance.

The Nexus 7 tablet comes packing a 7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. It’s powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz. The device also comes with 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, which can’t be further expanded as it doesn’t feature a microSD card slot. The Nexus 7 also sports a 1.2 MP front camera, a 4325 mAh battery and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which can be upgraded to Android 4.2.

The only Nexus 7 version available yet is the 16 GB Wi-Fi only one. However, we expect that the 32 GB variant and the 3G one to hit the Indian Play Store in the near future. The tablet can already be pre-ordered for Rs 15,999, which is around $300. If you make the Nexus 7 pre-order now, the company says that it will start shipping on April 5.

Of course, the Indians could have bought the Nexus 7 earlier, but it has been sold only via unofficial channels, thus is probably had a bigger price. But now, it seems that Google is here to stay making its devices officially available though its local Play Store. This is actually a smart move from Google as the Indian market is a very important one with lost of Android enthusiasts and handsets like the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 4 are very popular in that region. With the Nexus 7 available it means that other devices will make their way and the Indian market will become an important cash source for Google.

Those of you who are eager to pre-order the Google Nexus 7 can head to the Play Store where it’s listed.

Any info on when it’s gonna officially hit the Indonesian market? Even the Nexus 4 is already available (albeit at a ridiculously inflated price) One would think that Google would be interested in making a push into a 250 million people market flooded with 7in Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
