Samsung is now launching the official OTA Firmware Update of Android 4.1.2 for the International variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 with the model number I9100. This is one of the most popular devices ever released and since there is still a larger community of Galaxy S2 owners, then Samsung decided that this would be the best of times for the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.
The first country that received this update is Spain and it has the XWLS8 Firmware version. It is the Android 4.1.2 JB build and not the latest Android 4.2 release and it might be the last official JB build ever released for the Galaxy S2 I9100 smartphone. The OTA update is being pushed to your device via Notification and you should wait until you receive it or you can choose to install it manually. (We will post shortly a guide for all Galaxy S2 users to use and update to official Android 4.1.2).
This is the biggest update for Galaxy S2 to date as it will change the overall UI with the Nature UX interface, the same one that has been released with the Samsung Galaxy S3. There are many new features and you can learn which ones are by reading the lines below.
It brings Project Butter software which will make your device OS look smoother and faster, the TouchWiz Nature UX interface, Samsung S Cloud services, Tweaked Camera functions, a brand new Lockscreen with tons of Customization features, Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-Up Play, Galaxy S3 Widgets, 2 Home Screen modes, more Notification Toggles can now be integrated in the Notification Bar.
Google Now has also been integrated in this Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update. Users who are still running stock Android 4.0.4 ICS on their SGS2 device are in for a great surprise as this new update will totally enhance their Android OS experience. Those users who are custom ROM enthusiasts are already familiar with the Android 4.1 features and functions, but they should still flash this official release as it packs most Galaxy S3 functions.
The only thing left to do is to wait until the update is pushed to your device. However, note that the OTA Update is currently available for Spanish users but it shouldn’t be long until other countries will receive it also. Remember that the battery performance might be worse compared to when your phone was running on Android 4.0.4 ICS and that’s because of the all new Jelly Bean features and overall OS changes. Check the Settings
As I’ve told you, the Android 4.1.2 XWLS8 Jelly Bean OTA firmware file can be flashed on any other variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 International variant with the model number GT-I9100. It can be found here and you will need to use ODIN app to push the firmware update zip on to your phone.
If you don’t know how to install it, then you should return to our website shortly as we will post a full guide for you to use and install the latest Jelly Bean OS on your Galaxy S2.
Update your device and tell us in comments which are the best new functions of the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean stock ROM.
