Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is here

Fortunately for all Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus users, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is now available through OTA, so you should get it very soon. As usual, OTA updates are not available for everyone simultaneously and some might have to wait a few more hours after it’s available, though everyone will get it today for sure.

I know how much you’ve been waiting for this update, especially considering how cool the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is. What’s better is that Verizon Galaxy Nexus users can enjoy the pure Android experience, as this is a stock device, just like the unlocked version.

The Jelly Bean update brings some new features to your Galaxy Nexus, better functionality, stability and also some bug fixed. What you will notice at first is the new notifications system, which looks better and has better features. You can now interact with notifications, because they come with action buttons. You can also block specific apps from sending you notifications anymore.

The lockscreen has also been redesigned. It now has three ways, one for the camera, one to unlock and one drives you straight to Google Now. Which is the 3rd feature Jelly Bean comes with. It acts as a very smart personal assistant and can answer some questions for you. Questions include but are not limited to: weather, currency, sports and can take your orders for some apps, like calling, sending texts, showing you navigation guides, settings alarms and much more.

Google Now can also let you know when your next flight is going to depart, send you information about your favorite sports, let you know how traffic is depending on your destination. And what’s very cool is that you don’t have to tell Google Now your destination, because it will guess it by itself after a few days, from learning your habits.

To learn more about it, go ahead and get it, because I can guarantee you will love your Galaxy Nexus even more.
