Popular Chinese Android OEM Oppo is going to announce a new selfie-focused smartphone very soon. On its Philippines Facebook page, Oppo recently confirmed that the upcoming F5 smartphone will be officially unveiled on the 26th of October. While Oppo is yet to confirm anything, we do expect the F5 to make it to China and a few other markets in Asia soon after the Philippines launch. The key highlight of the Oppo F5 will be a “bezel-less” design on the front. It will feature a large 6-inch display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Rumors suggest the upcoming OnePlus 5T is in fact based on the Oppo F5 and will look identical to it, at least from the front. Since there is virtually no space on the bottom bezel, the fingerprint sensor is mounted at the back of the handset.
Apart from a ‘bezel-less’ front, the other main highlight of the Oppo F5 will be its dual selfie cameras. Both the sensors will offer 16-megapixel resolution, so selfie lovers will definitely be impressed by the handset. At the back, Oppo F5 will feature a single 20-megapixel rear camera.
Under the hood, Oppo F5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC, which is an octa-core chip with performance more or less comparable to last year’s top mobile SoCs. The powerful mid-range processor will be paired with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. Some rumors suggest a 4GB RAM variant could be on offer as well, along with a higher-end version packing 128GB of built-in storage. Like most Oppo smartphones, we expect to see a microSD card slot for further expansion. In terms of battery life, the Oppo F5 is rumored to be an impressive performer, thanks to a large 4000mAh capacity battery. At launch, the smartphone will be available in four colors – Black, Red, Rose Gold, and Gold.
