Last week, a report from Phone Arena suggested that Google and LG are planning to release more color options for the stock Android-powered Nexus 5. The publication even provided some alleged press photos which later proved to be a hoax. Later on, a Vietnamese retailer have leaked what it seemed to bee the photos of the red Nexus 5 variant, also mentioning that a yellow model might be in the works.
In the meantime, more proof that the red Nexus 5 might indeed be a real thing has surfaced on the web, courtesy of Titter user @artyomstar. He provided some pictures of the said Nexus 5 model, claiming that they were taken in one of LG’s warehouses based in the UK.
The packaging seems legit, but, as usual, nothing is official until Google says so, therefore we are advising you to take the report with a pinch of salt.
For the time being, there’s no information on when the red Nexus 5 will be released on the market, but since we’ve already seen it hitting the warehouses (of course if the leaked photos prove real) the released date shouldn’t be too far away. Valentine’s day would be the perfect occasion for Google to launch the red model.
Aside of the different body color, the red Nexus 5 will pack the same technical specifications as the white and black models. For those needing a refresher, the Nexus 5 sports a 1080p 5-inch screen, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of native storage, 8 MP rear-facing camera with HDR+, LTE, and a 2,300 mAh battery.
