HTC Rezound has been released way back in 2011, but the phone is still appreciated due to its performances that are still decent. Actually, the specs and features are similar with the ones spotted on newer handsets, or in some cases even better than the performances included on budget friendly smartphones that were released this year. Anyway, now you can add more power to your HTC Rezound, you can update to latest Android 4.3 firmware, you can upgrade the battery life and bump the speeds as those of xda-developers had launched a one-in-all toolkit. So, by using the same, during the following step by step guide we will be checking on how to root and install CWM recovery on your HTC Rezound.
Root access has been really hard to achieve on the HTC Rezound because of the numerous factory and default restrictions that are present on the internal system of the handset, but now, with this new root solution you will be able to gain access to the OS and to the system of your Rezound. The root method explained during the present tutorial can be easily applied, it’s safe and is smoothly working on the Rezound. The procedure has been tested by many users who have declared that there is nothing wrong in using this new one-in-all toolkit.
Do remember that this guide is using a program developed and offered by those of xda-developers; so before going any further you should thanks the devs for this possibility. Now, do remember that rooting and installing CWM recovery represents unofficial operations. Therefore, by applying the same you will void the warranty of your HTC Rezound. The binary flash counter will be increased, so if anything bad happens (unlikely if you stick to the guidelines from below) you will not be able to take your phone and show it to the carrier from where you have bought the same – you will be by yourselves.
Anyway, don’t panic, as afterwards if you need the warranty back, you will be able to get the same. Of course for being able to do so you will first have to reset the flash counter. Well, that can be applied by downgrading / updating your HTC Rezound to stock / official Android firmware.
Gaining root access is quite important as on a rooted system you can apply other complex and custom operations. That’s why, as already stated, after rooting your HTC Rezound you will be able to update with an Android 4.3 based custom ROM, you will be able to install a custom kernel, overclock the CPU frequency for bumping the speeds, improve the performances, upgrade the battery life and lot more. Gaining root access is essential especially if you want to use your Rezound on full power without dealing with factory and default restrictions.
Then, installing CWM recovery should be the second step to apply when looking forward in tweaking your HTC Rezound. CWM recovery is the most used Android custom recovery, the tool being available for almost all the Android based smartphones and tablets out there. CWM recovery brings important features and options that can be used for performing operations like: install a .zip file from the SD card, backup the current ROM, clear the cache, wipe the system, restore firmwares, optimize the performances, perform maintenance procedures and so on. Now all these operations can’t be applied by using the stock recovery that is coming preinstalled on your HTC Rezound; so that’s why you need to replace the stock recovery with a custom one, which in our case is CWM recovery.
But, before going any further you should consider in making a backup for saving the data which is there on the internal system of your smartphone. Unfortunately in some cases, during root process, the data is getting corrupted or even erased. So, for avoiding unpleasant situations from happening, I strongly recommend you to backup the contacts list, call logs, market apps, internet settings, calendar info and everything else you might need like personal info and accounts.
It’s important to know that this method will work only if you will be able to use a Windows running computer. If you can, then on the same you should deactivate or disable the antivirus protection along with any other security tools because these programs might interfere (or interrupt) with the root operation. Next, of course, the HTC Rezound and its USB cable will be required. You will have to connect your handset with the computer and that’s why you also have to enable the USB debugging option from your phone; in order to do so, go to “menu -> settings -> developer option” and check the same. Do consider that this operation will take a couple of minutes so before starting the steps from below, it should be a good idea to charge the battery of your phone.
This step by step guide will work only if your HTC Rezound has an unlocked bootloader. Furthermore, do apply the steps from below for rooting and installing CWM recovery only on the Rezound because the method is compatible only with the mentioned Android based device; else you can and you will brick your bellowed handset.
