The rumors about the rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Active device, are spreading fast and new details about the same are being leaked almost daily. Now, according to @evleaks via Twitter it seems that the Galaxy S4 Active along with a new mid-range, budget friendly Galaxy smartphone – dubbed as Zest – will be released through AT&T soon.
Anyway, even though now we have the first info related to the Galaxy Active future launch date, don’t get too enthusiastic as Samsung still hasn’t confirmed anything, so until further news these are only rumors. The same can be applied for the Galaxy Zest, about which we only know that it will be an affordable Android based smartphone.
The AT&T Galaxy Active will have the model number of SGH-I537, while the Zest will be dubbed as SGHI217. The first will apparently be featuring similar performances with the Galaxy S4 (with 1920 x 1080 – full HD – display) and rugged capabilities, while the second will come with mid-range specs and features.
According to the previous rumors, the Active should first arrive in Europe somewhere during July along with the Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy S4 Zoom, so the AT&T release should be somewhere during late July or early August.
It will be interesting to see if the Active will be the rugged variant of the S4, or if Samsung will provide a redesigned and changed version of the same (with different performances); so the future price tag will also be something to interest us, as I really doubt that someone will buy the Active if the phone is not actually the rugged model of the Galaxy S4 as if you need a waterproof and dustproof handset you can already get the Galaxy Xcover 2.
