During a conference that took place recently, one of the Samsung officials confirmed that the South Korea-based phone manufacturer will soon release a rugged version of the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S4. The information comes from Young Soo Kim, Samsung Gulf President, who talked about the water and dust proof Samsung Galaxy S4 during the Q&A session of the conference.
It seems that the new version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be resistant to water and dust and that it will be officially announced over the coming weeks. The information was revealed to a journalist who asked why Samsung is not developing products that are water proof. It’s interesting to hear that a device like this is part of Samsung’s plans, especially that it doesn’t have a predecessor, as the Galaxy S3 din’t receive the same treatment.
For the time being, the Galaxy Xcover models were the company’s handsets that were water, dust and mud proof. Anyway we are eager to see what improvements will receive the case of the “rugged Samsung Galaxy S4.” With the launch of the water and dust proof Samsung Galaxy S4, the South Korea-based company will attack the selling-point of the Sony Xperia Z, a smartphone that is IP57 certified.
The technical specifications of the water and dust proof Samsung Galaxy S4 will most likely remain unchanged, therefore we might receive the same oct-core Exynos 5 Octa SoC (quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset for certain regions), 2 GB of RAM, three internal storage options, 16, 32, 64 GB, expandable using microSD cards, and the same feature-packed 13 megapixel camera on the back of the case.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 also sports a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display and all the connectivity features worthy of a modern smartphone: all standards of WiFi, 4G, HSPA+, NFC chip, IR blaster, Bluetooth, microUSB, and 3.5 mm audio jack.
Are you tempted by a water and dust proof Samsung Galaxy S4?
