Launched more than a month ago and running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, the two members of the Galaxy Mega family now have official pricing.
Coming with only some of the features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Mega tribe are meant to be an affordable options for the customers who want to purchase a large screen smartphone, but below the price point of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 flagship.
Officially unveiled for the Indian market, the two Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 models, have received price tags of $445 and $563, respectively. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Dual-SIM release date was also raveled, and the smartphone will be available for purchase as of June 3rd. Even though it is already available for pre-order at a Great Brian-based retailer at a price of $695, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 release date was not unveiled.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 comes with a TFT display with a diagonal of 6.3 inches and 720p resolution, while the hardware platform is underpinned by the Exynos 5 Dual chipset, which integrates a dual-core 1.7 GHz processor based on Cortex A15 cores and a Mali T604 graphics processing unit. The gigantic smartphone also sports 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 or 16 GB of internal storage (expandable using a microSD card of up to 64 GB), 8 megapixel primary camera and a front-facing 1.9 megapixel sensor.
The connectivity features of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 include LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The body measures 167.6x88x8 mm and includes a 3,200 mAh battery that adds up to the total weight of 199 grams. The smartphone is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is using a 5.8-inch display with a resolution that was reduced to 960 x 540 pixels. On the list of somewhat more modest technical specifications you will find a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz, while the internal storage options are limited to 8 GB. Still, the storage can be expanded courtesy of a microSD card slot, but the connectivity options list lacks LTE and WiFi 802.11 ac.
