Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 Will Be Soon Available in Purple

Samsung is trying to widen the color options of its smartphone line-up and, and after we’ve heard that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in Aurora Red (for the time being exclusively at AT&T), the South Korean phone maker will introduce a new color for its Galaxy Mega phablets.

Sammobile is reporting that Sammy is preparing to launch a new body livery for its Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8. The new body color is called Plum Purple and the same publication writes that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 will become available in the new body color sometime around week 28 – 30 (that’s 2 -4 weeks from now).

Even though the press photo of the Plum Purple Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 wasn’t made available, the guys at Sammobile launched Photo Shop and managed to create the above picture which gives us an idea of how the two phablets will look like in purple.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 are supposed to be a part of the same family of devices, there are a lot of differences between the two in terms of technical specifications.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 sports a 6.3-inch SC-LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, has 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8/16 GB of internal storage (expandable using a microSD card of up to 64 GB). The biggest member of the Galaxy smartphone tribe is powered by a dual-core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 400 with Adreno 305 and has an 8 megapixel camera mounted on the back with autofocus, LED flash, and support for full HD video capture. The front-facing camera has a 1.9 megapixel sensor.

In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 comes with HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps; LTE, Cat3, 50 Mbps UL, 100 Mbps DL, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC chip, infra red blaster, and microUSB 2.0.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 features a 5.8-inch display with TFT technology and a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, while being underpinned by a dual-core 1.4 GHz CPU. The internal storage options of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 are limited to 8 GB, but, just like its bigger brother it has support for microSD cards.

The connectivity features of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 include HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and microUSB 2.0. As you probably noticed, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 doesn’t come with LTE or IR port.

The camera unit mounted on the back of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 has an 8 megapixel sensor and packs autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, and 1080p@30fps video recording support, while the front-facing camera is a 1.9 megapixel unit.
