The first Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 edition now can be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat using a leaked version of the firmware.
The news comes from SamMobile and it seems like Samsung is indeed looking to launch the first KitKat build for their original Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. This model was released with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, later on it has received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean while the next Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 firmware updates wasn’t available.
Since the Android 4.4.2 KitKat was released by Google targeting even older Android devices from now on you can expect more and more early Android devices getting such treatment. KitKat has been optimized to run smoother with any type of device and almost all smartphone and tablet manufacturers have tried to implement it with most of their devices.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 model brings the white status bar icons, redesigned UI with better and multi-functional toggles, better battery life and a more reliable and stable Android environment. The leak is available because of an XDA Member and Developer, izap. He managed to compile and then release all the required files for all Galaxy Note 10.1 to be able to test the new KitKat firmware update. Since this is a leak we can’t wait for Samsung to announce the official release date for the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat leaked build for Galaxy Note 10.1 2012 model has the firmware version set to XXUDND5 and it seems like it has been created last week on April 23rd.
The official release date of KitKat update for this tablet should happen some time next month or in June, only one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that the update will happen and you should keep an eye on all Android-based website to be the first to learn when that happens.
