Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 OTA Update Now Live at Verizon

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update is now available for download for the Verizon users. Samsung and the carriers have been very busy lately updating the high-end Galaxy smartphones to Android 4.3, and after the Galaxy Note 2 received Android 4.3 at Sprint and T-Mobile, now it’s time for the Verizon variant to get updated to the latest Jelly Bean version.

As usual, the Android 4.3 OTA update for Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is being rolled out in phases, which means that you might not be able to download it right away. In case the system update notification didn’t pop up in your notification area, you can also perform a manual check. In order to do so you have to navigate to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates.

Those of you who received the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update should know that the update file is sized around 724 MB, so it’s recommended to download it using a stable WiFi network. It’s also worth mentioning that the build number will be changed to JSS15J.I605VRUEMJ9.

The Android 4.3 update for Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brings, among others, Galaxy Gear support, Samsung KNOX, and updates for most of Samsung’s pre-installed apps.

According to the changelog posted on Verizon’s support page, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update improves the battery life when using Exchange mail, Callback number will display properly in received text messages, brings improvements to WiFi performance, Google Maps, and Voicemail integration, and move-to-SD-card functionality.

After you download and install Android 4.3 on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 you will also notice the Galaxy S4-like interface, including the tabbed Settings menu, Multi Widnow and Pen Up from Note 3, a new mode for the Camera app (Sound and Shot), and Bluetooth Smart Ready Low Energy enhancements.

With the new software update, Samsung has changed and updated some of the pre-installed apps as follows: AllShare Play is now Samsung Link, AllShare Cast is now Screen Monitoring, and Media & Music is now Samsung Hub.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update also brings VMware (with Dual Persona and Device Security) and updates Amazon Appstore and Amazon Widget to the latest versions.

In case you forgot, I remind you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM, 16/32/64 GB of native storage expandable using microSD cards, 8 MP rear-facing camera with 1080p@30fps video recording capabilities, and Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 4 Quad chipset with quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and Mali 400MP GPU. In terms of connectivity, Note 2 comes with LTE, WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0.
