Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 OTA Update Now Live at Verizon

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update is now available for download for the Verizon users. Samsung and the carriers have been very busy lately updating the high-end Galaxy smartphones to Android 4.3, and after the Galaxy Note 2 received Android 4.3 at Sprint and T-Mobile, now it’s time for the Verizon variant to get updated to the latest Jelly Bean version.

As usual, the Android 4.3 OTA update for Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is being rolled out in phases, which means that you might not be able to download it right away. In case the system update notification didn’t pop up in your notification area, you can also perform a manual check. In order to do so you have to navigate to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates.

Those of you who received the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update should know that the update file is sized around 724 MB, so it’s recommended to download it using a stable WiFi network. It’s also worth mentioning that the build number will be changed to JSS15J.I605VRUEMJ9.

The Android 4.3 update for Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brings, among others, Galaxy Gear support, Samsung KNOX, and updates for most of Samsung’s pre-installed apps.

According to the changelog posted on Verizon’s support page, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update improves the battery life when using Exchange mail, Callback number will display properly in received text messages, brings improvements to WiFi performance, Google Maps, and Voicemail integration, and move-to-SD-card functionality.

After you download and install Android 4.3 on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 you will also notice the Galaxy S4-like interface, including the tabbed Settings menu, Multi Widnow and Pen Up from Note 3, a new mode for the Camera app (Sound and Shot), and Bluetooth Smart Ready Low Energy enhancements.

With the new software update, Samsung has changed and updated some of the pre-installed apps as follows: AllShare Play is now Samsung Link, AllShare Cast is now Screen Monitoring, and Media & Music is now Samsung Hub.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update also brings VMware (with Dual Persona and Device Security) and updates Amazon Appstore and Amazon Widget to the latest versions.

In case you forgot, I remind you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM, 16/32/64 GB of native storage expandable using microSD cards, 8 MP rear-facing camera with 1080p@30fps video recording capabilities, and Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 4 Quad chipset with quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and Mali 400MP GPU. In terms of connectivity, Note 2 comes with LTE, WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0.

Are there any Verizon Galaxy Note 2 owners readying this? Did you received the Android 4.3 update? Please let us know in the comments section.

Updated my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 last night at around 11:55pm, Several noticeable improvement’s.
    1. Faster boot up
    2. More responsive
    3. more quick notification setting tab’s
    4. App’s to SD Support very big here
    5. You can change font style setting’s and download more free font styles but requires a free samsung account.
    6. Consumes less battery life
    7. Less ram consumed
    8. App’s on lock screen
    9. S-Voice is more improved with a seamless ease for request on par with rival personal assistance
    10. More but not many apps to support multi-window feature

One minor and I mean minor issue that maybe for people is when you move app’s to sd, If you have your app’s on the main page’s the app display will be semi-transparent with a dummy android logo on the app with a tiny sd symbol on the bottom right no issue as you can still tap the app and work’s like normal and can be restored by removing and replacing.

I got the update for Verizon note 2 and didn’t get samsung knox

  • Moe

False, Android 4.3 on Verizon’s Galaxy Note II doesn’t include Samsung Knox.
Also, why doesn’t VW’s update support lock screen widgets? What happened to lock screen apps and the ripple effect? Why have they been removed?

Got it this morning, 12/24 in Austin, TX. So far so good.

  • Tom

I am on AT&T and updated my Note 2 to 4.3 last night. I cannot find anything in my settings that shows I have BT LE or ANT+ support. Any idea what I am missing?

Got it yesterday. I’m not really feeling good about it yet. Print is all smaller. Yes I can tap 3 times to zoom but then have a hard time getting out. Other things I use, I don’t like the changes. My emails have changed, my screen has changed. I was just getting the hang

  • Brenda Hagen

Should I try to get used to it. Is it that much better? Could I get my old version back?
