Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Update: The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon is now rolling out OTA (over-the-air).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update is now available for download for Verizon users. The information comes from Droid Life after one of their readers reported that the new firmware went live. Furthermore, he even has a screenshot to prove that.

Anyway, it seems that, for the time being, the Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is only available for download through KIES or the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. To update your Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 using KIES need to is plug your smartphone to the PC using the USB cable, launch KIES, and check for the new update.

If you’re a Mac or Windows user you should also be able to download the Android 4.4.2 update for Galaxy Note 3 through Verizon’s Software Upgrade Assistant. Big Red has instructions on how to do it here.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update is not yet available for download over-the-air, but since the new firmware has already been released through KIES, the OTA update should follow shortly. Once the update gets available OTA, you should receive a system update message in the notification area. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. It’s also worth performing a manual check under Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. As usual, the update will be rolled out in stages, meaning that some of you might not be able to download it right away.

Even though Verizon haven’t released an official changelog for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update, expect it to be pretty similar to the one that rolled out for the other variants of the device. Besides the usual KitKat improvements such as immersive mode, cloud printing, color emoji support, white status bar icons, transparent status bar, new Location menu, or full screen album and movie art in the lock screen, the new software will also bring updated Samsung native apps, improved Samsung keyboard, performance boosts, and security enhancements.

In case neither of the aforementioned methods worked for you, you can also manually flash Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using our tutorial.
