Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 Update Now Available at Verizon

Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Update: The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon is now rolling out OTA (over-the-air).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update is now available for download for Verizon users. The information comes from Droid Life after one of their readers reported that the new firmware went live. Furthermore, he even has a screenshot to prove that.

Anyway, it seems that, for the time being, the Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is only available for download through KIES or the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. To update your Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 using KIES need to is plug your smartphone to the PC using the USB cable, launch KIES, and check for the new update.

If you’re a Mac or Windows user you should also be able to download the Android 4.4.2 update for Galaxy Note 3 through Verizon’s Software Upgrade Assistant. Big Red has instructions on how to do it here.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update is not yet available for download over-the-air, but since the new firmware has already been released through KIES, the OTA update should follow shortly. Once the update gets available OTA, you should receive a system update message in the notification area. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. It’s also worth performing a manual check under Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. As usual, the update will be rolled out in stages, meaning that some of you might not be able to download it right away.

Even though Verizon haven’t released an official changelog for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update, expect it to be pretty similar to the one that rolled out for the other variants of the device. Besides the usual KitKat improvements such as immersive mode, cloud printing, color emoji support, white status bar icons, transparent status bar, new Location menu, or full screen album and movie art in the lock screen, the new software will also bring updated Samsung native apps, improved Samsung keyboard, performance boosts, and security enhancements.

In case neither of the aforementioned methods worked for you, you can also manually flash Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using our tutorial.

Are there any Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners reading this? Have you guys received the Android 4.4.2 update? Please let your fellow Note 3 owners know in the comments section below.

    Says latest installed. Still 4.3

  • abcdesign

Downloaded. No difference other than SHealth has been added. No difference in the look at all. Added isis wallet and emergency alerts. Seems to run a lot faster though.

    • gorkon

SHealth is already on mine…maybe I downloaded it??

      • DPVale

SHealth is Stock. ISIS was already able to be downloaded on JellyBean from what I understand, and even before this OTA Update I had used ISIS.

    • Justin

SHealth was already loaded on in 4.3.

My note 3 sometimes blacks out and freezes after the update. Before the update my phone was working perfectly fine :(

  • Danielle Lynn Flake

Been tryin sence I heard doesn’t even work, go figure fin verizon

  • Allan Taylor

Apparently it is also available on the Verizon galaxy note 2 as well. Mine has a prompt in the notification area reading “software update available”. Given I use FoxFi and kitkat supposedly breaks it, this update doesn’t seem worth it.

    • Justin

That update for the note 2 allows you to roam on the Telus network in Canada, it’s not kitkat yet. Supposedly, foxfi was fixed to work with KitKat now too.

      • Allan Taylor

Just found that out with a call to Verizon. Thanks for your input as I’m glad to hear FoxFi may be patched.

  • christian porto

    OTA update out now

  • DPVale

OTA Update was pushed out about Half Hour ago, Plug Phone up, make sure you have a good signal and/or Wifi and be prepared to wait the usual 30 Minutes or so for the update to process. Goodluck!

    • Neezy

Mine only lasted about 13 mins.

  • michelleamberquasar

Just downloaded the update OTA. Only disappointment is same phone dialer app. Saw on the Android site that 4.4 was supposed to have a new dialer? I hate the current one.

    • http://www.android.gs Liviu Anca

The only improvement for the Phone dialer is the Caller ID. If you get a call from a number that’s not in your contacts list, your phone will look for matches from businesses listed in Google Maps

  • Family man

Downloaded OTA…I don’t notice any difference other than icons for ISIS wallet and made me re download story album. One of my 7 year Olds games no longer works…

  • Family man

Also Verizon Visual Voice mail basic now included.

  • Edward

After the update my phone sometimes lags and now my action memo won’t pop out, and it might just be me but my battery is dying faster, I really dislike this update

    • Tiffany

I’m experiencing the same issues :( what to do??

      • Edward

I backed up all my stuff and did a a whole phone reset and it fixed all the issues.

  • Patrick

Updated this morning OTA. Keyboard lag is horrible! Phone refuses to send text messages now… Seems like a fail for me.

    • Tiffany

Yea I’m having trouble with the lag and battery life >_<

    • nica

I’m having this same issue. .. I’m not able to text :-( not happy with the update

  • mlshore1

I got the Ota update yesterday night. Haven’t seen much of a difference yet. Like stated a white status bar, notice a camera icon on the lock screen, 2 apps added (iris wallet and emergency alerts), I’ve also experienced a few lags while texting.

    • Ambryn

I don’t have a camera icon on my lock screen. How did u get that?

      • Neezy

I wad wondering where mine was as well. I found out though, it only appears if you don’t have a security pattern to unlock your phone. I would rather have no camera icon on my lock screen, than no security pattern on it. LOL

  • Abdul Mannan

Its been 2 months since I bought my note 3 though its nit from verizon. I got 4.4.2 update right on my first day but I have I have postponed it uptill now as I read reviews which stopped me. I don’t know if its really worth updating or not. Has it fixed any issues bugs or is there improvement at all? I really appreciate positive feedback.

  • Marc

I got it Monday via Kies. More emojis, white/transparent toolbar, etc. No noted difference in speed or battery life.

  • Ocliffstud

Just did the OTA update on my Verizon Note 3!!!!

  • Terry

I just did a check for updates and am now downloading 4.4 !!
    Thanks for the heads up.

  • rperk

Applied update and it is exactly the same interface. The only thing that is different is the version number in the Settings About. WTF Verizon!!!???

  • Neezy

My Visual Voice Mail won’t work with the update and most things are typically the same. No biggie.

  • Janet

just updated my note 3 the other day. I don’t think I really like the black status bar with the white icons. Does anyone know if there is any way I can revert back to the transparent status bar with colored icons (without rooting… and preferably without downloading an app… so pretty much is there a setting for this? haha) thanks!
