Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite to Go on Sale as Galaxy Note 3 Neo?

It is rumored for a while that the South Korean phone maker is working on an affordable Samsung Galaxy Note 3 variant which was known among the enthusiasts and tech publications as Galaxy Note 3 Lite. Of course, Samsung didn’t say anything concrete about the Galaxy Note 3 Lite, since the device is yet to be unveiled, bu the rumor mill speculates that it would come with a 720p display.

More details regarding the affordable Galaxy Note 3 variant come from the folks at GSM Arena and, if the documents they presented prove to be true, then the official name of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite might be Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The same documents reveal that a hexa-core processor would make the Galaxy Note 3 Neo faster than the Galaxy Note 2, the processing unit being based on a dual-core 1.7 GHz and a quad-core 1.3 GHz CPU. It’s not specified though whether all cores can be used at once.

The new leak also reveals some details about other technical specifications of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo and I can’t help but notice that most of them have been borrowed from the Galaxy Note 2. According to the documents in the gallery below, the cheaper Note 3 model will come with a 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of native storage, microSD support, 8 MP primary camera, and a 3,100 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo might borrow the faux-leather back from its premium brother, but it is yet to be confirmed. Still the Note 3 Neo shares a couple of traits with the original Note 3: Air Commands, Advanced Multi Window, and the same Note 3-like Magazine UX.

Unfortunately, the documents don’t reveal anything about the Galaxy Note 3 Neo price or release date, leaving both up to speculation. The rumor mill indicates that Samsung might unveil the affordable Galaxy Note 3 variant later next month, during the Mobile World Congress 2014 event in Barcelona.

Even though the documents look very real, we are advising you to take them with a pinch of salt, as nothing is official until Samsung says so.
