Samsung has been showing us their concepts for flexible displays for over two years, but they’ve yet to use them in their flagship devices. It seems like things might change this year with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is rumored to feature a three-sided Youm flexible display.
As you can see in the concept above, the display is rounded on the sides, allowing you to read information on the device from its sides.
Lately we didn’t see much improvement in the smartphones, as technology didn’t allow for something revolutionary, but things might change with the Galaxy Note 4. If the rumors are true and Samsung decides to release a flexible display Galaxy Note 4, we believe they have something very clear in mind and they will make it useful, as the Galaxy Round wasn’t something you’d crave for.
Samsung has already reported to Reuters that they are going to change the form factor of the Galaxy Note 3, but no clear information was given.
“Our ultimate goal is to make products that consumers really aspire to have. This is how we are trying to find a breakthrough in the stagnant premium market.”
Below you can see the patents the above concept is based on. They represent a smartphone with very thin sides and a three-sided flexible display that we expect to see in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
We are really confident that Samsung is doing their best to do something different with the Galaxy Note 4, as the smartphone market seems to be shrinking and users aren’t as willing to upgrade their devices as before, because they don’t bring much improvement over the previous versions.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4’s release date is expected to be in September or early October, this year. We believe it could be at IFA Berlin, but we aren’t very sure at the moment.
