The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 update is just around the corner, or at least that’s what all the signs are pointing at. After the official Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 update was spotted last week rolling out in France, the new Galaxy S3 firmware should also be on its way.
About a month and a half ago, a Samsung document saying that both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates will be released in April – May time frame leaked online. Back then everybody was skeptical about the authenticity of the document, but it looks like it was spot-on after all.
Because the Android 4.4.2 for Note 2 was released late April, just like the aforementioned document said, we have strong reasons to believe the the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should be released by the end of May, too.
What will the KitKat update bring for Galaxy S3? No one knows for sure, but we could make a safe guess based on the features it brought on other Galaxy devices. We’re expecting the new release to arrive with transparent status bar, white status bar icons, cloud printing, color emoji support, full screen album art in the lockscreen, better power management, enhanced Samsung Keyboard, updated Samsung native apps, and other such goodies.
As soon as the Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 will be made available for download and after you device becomes eligible to receive it, you should be able to spot a system update message in the notification area of your S3. If the system update notification fails to show up, you should also perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. Sometimes, new updates can also be found using KIES: grab the USB cable, connect your S3 to the PC, launch KIES and check for the update through it.
