We previously told you that Samsung is preparing to release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the S3 and it seems like they are getting much closer. They announced last week that the Galaxy S3 “will be soon updated.”
Today we’ve spotted another leaked update directed to Bell, Rogers and Telus users. And it’s one of the many updates leaked recently, which also seems to be very stable, like all the others. This can only mean that we are probably about a week away from the official update.
Today’s ROM version is I747MVLALI2c and was directed to Bell users, though it works perfectly on Telus and Rogers too. If you want to give it a try, then you will have to download the file and flash it from the phone’s recovery. But please note that you must be running on LH1 in order to do this. You can find out what version you are running on in Settings > About.
Fortunately developers get their hands on leaked updates and build custom ROMs out of them, so you can get to try them much sooner. There are already a bunch of custom 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROMs for the Galaxy S3. You can search our website to get some if you want to give it a try.
Custom ROMs based on the update are already in the works and developers announced that new builds will be available in about 24 hours for everyone using the Galaxy S3 i747M.
