Unlike LG who is a lazy company when it comes to releasing firmware upgrades for its devices, Samsung does a much better job and it’s updating its best smartphones on a regular basis. Now we are waiting for the final Jelly Bean update namely Android 4.2.
If we are to believe the guys from Sam Mobile, the owners of the Galaxy S3 will have to be patient an extra month minimum until they will receive the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. Nevertheless, Sam Mobile just got their hands on a pre-release build of the Android 4.2.1 ROM, software which is available for download on the mentioned website.
The ROM can be used by anyone wanting an early update, but it has some minor bugs. In case you want to give it a try, there are also some flashing instructions via Odin. You should know that the software does not include modem firmware, but you can use the old one.
There are several improvements that come along with the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
If you download and install the update on your Samsung Galaxy S3 you will receive: new enhancements to the notification system (new additions that make the notifications more actionable, enhanced Ripple effect on Lockscreen, a new Lockscreen, new widgets, Daydream, Voice Command (this feature enables you to perform tasks by using your voice), and a few others.
What’s interesting is that the Photo Sphere feature has not been mentioned. It looks like the company will probably use its own functioned namely Samsung Orb. feature we have been telling you about. Another possibility is that Sam Mobile just missed Photo Sphere in their list of improvements.
So, the update is out, unofficially but it’s available. The question is you will install it, or wait for the official release?
