Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC EVO 3D

Galaxy-S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has just been officially announced and as expected, it really managed to surprise us all, though most of its aspects (specs and features) were in our attention from a while. Being a new smartphone and Samsung’s pride, its performances should be the highest ones available; in order to see if this is true or not we will compare the Samsung Galaxy S3 with another powerful handset, the HTC Evo 3D. As you will see these two Android powered phones are not that different as many of you might consider. So, let’s start to compare the performances of the same.

First of all, you must remember that the HTC Evo 3D was released way back in June last year, so its capabilities will be compared with a more “fresh” ones. The S3 is not even yet available, its official release date being this month. Anyway, the Evo 3D users should know that their devices are still a good choice for those interested in buying a high end smartphone, its specs still being more than decent.

If we are to compare the looks of these two phones, the first difference notable is the screen size. The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8 inch display, while the Evo 3D is offering a smaller 4.3 inch one. Then, the quality of the same is different as Samsung is bringing a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen (720 x 1280 pixels); on HTC you will get a LCD capacitive touchscreen (540 x 960 pixels), of course with 3D capabilities included. To conclude, I have to admit that when it comes to the display the Galaxy S3 is more powerful than the HTC Evo 3D, though its design is not on my taste.

Then, we have the specs. First of all, as we all know, the S3 is running a 1.4GHz Quad Core Exynos processor, while the HTC Evo 3D is being powered by a substantial slower dual core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 processor which also has Adreno 220 for graphical acceleration support. In terms of speed we all know who the winner is. Furthermore, the camera included by Samsung is also more powerful than the HTC one, though the last one is offering 3D capture. But, an 8 MP with HD recording capability and HDR Filter will always be better than a 5 MP dual LED flash and auto focus one. On the front the Galaxy S3 is featuring a 1.9 MP camera while Evo 3D is offering a 1.3 MP one, the difference being hard to notice. The S3 battery is also better (2100 mAh compared to 1730 mAh) but Samsung didn’t exceed the 2500 mAh battery which is spotted on the Galaxy Note device.

If we are to discuss about the operating system, then first, both are running the Android platform. Now, the Galaxy S3 will be coming with the latest version of the same, its users being able to enjoy the Ice Cream Sandwich experience and its capabilities. The Evo 3D is still featuring the Gingerbread firmware, though an Android 4.0 update is being expected. Of course the HTC users can choose to update the system with custom ROMs, which are coming with ICS flavor on top.

So, with that we can conclude that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is indeed more powerful than the HTC Evo 3D; the specs, features and also looks are more spectacular on Samsung’s flagship, though it is available one year later than the HTC smartphone. Stay close for further versus posts and for the Galaxy S3 release date, an event highly expected by all of us.
