According to a recently-leaked internal document, the Android 4.4.2 OTA Update for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 will start rolling out today. Aside of that the leaked document doesn’t reveal to much information about the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 update.
The leaked Sprint document is aimed at the carrier’s employees, informing them that the Android 4.4.2 OTA update for Samsung Galaxy S4 will start rolling out February 13 and that all the demo devices in Sprint’s stores must be updated to the latest available firmware.
According to the document, the new software will bring support for Sprint’s MVNO Zact Mobile. Anyway, you shouldn’t expect any major changes, because most of the software features that were introduced on the Galaxy Note 3 were patched in the Android 4.3 update that was rolled out for the Galaxy S4 late last year. Still, you should be able to notice minor UI changes such as transparent status bar and white status bar icons, the new immersive mode, and Printing option in Settings area.
Sprint mentions in the document that you should have your smartphone updated to the latest Android firmware in order to be able to perform the Android 4.4.2 OTA update.
Even though there’s no official word from the US carrier whether the update has already started to roll out, it’s worth performing a manual check unless the system update message didn’t already popped out in the notification area. In order to perform a manual check you must head to Settings > More > About Phone > System Update > Check for updates.
