Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition Release Date and Price Revealed at Google I/O

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition release date

Well, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition is real. With the Google I/O event currently undergoing at Moscone Center in San Francisco, Hugo Barra steppted on the stage to announce the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition release date. What is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition after all? The freshly announced smartphone will ditch the TouchWiz user interface for the stock Android experience, bringing the Nexus-like experience and software update frequency.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 release date was set for June 26th and just like it is currently happening with the Nexus 4 the smartphone co-developed by the South Korean phone maker and Google will be available in Google Play. If the stock Android experience on a powerful smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S4 will make many of you pop the champagne bottle, the price might cut your momentum.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition price is $649 contract-free. Moreover, the new smartphone will also be available at two US-based carriers: AT&T and T-Mobile. Even though Google didn’t announced the price of the AT&T or T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition the terminal will probably have a price tag of $199 with a two-year agreement.

Hugo Barra also revealed that that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition has support for 4G LTE networks, 16 GB of internal storage and, above all, the great news is that it comes with an unlocked bootloader either you purchase it from Google Play or from the two aforementioned carriers.

Even though the other Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition specs were not officially unveiled, we can go ahead and confirm that we are talking about the Snapdragon 600-powered variant since the device comes with support for LTE networks in the US.

I will remind you that just like the SGS4 I9505 variant, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition will be underpinned by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 SoC with four Krait 300 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz, helped by an Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The smartphone boasts a 5-inch full HD display with Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 441

The technical specifications list also includes a 13 megapixel camera mounted on the back, which comes with support for full HD video recording, and a front-facing 2 megapixel camera, ideal for video calls. In terms of connectivity, the SGS4 Google Edition brings all standards of WiFi, NFC chip, 4G LTE, IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0.

The great thing about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition is that it runs the latest Android version out of the box, and just like it is currently happening with the smartphones and tablets of the Nexus tribe it will be among the first devices to receive the latest updates to new Android versions.

Along with the the Google Play Services, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition is one of the most interesting debuts from this year’s Google developers conference. Will be the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition your next smartphone? Not really the same thing. Considering that the S4NE will have a removable battery and expandable storage this puts it in a class above the N4 and it will most likely be more durable as well since both sides are not made of glass.

all i need to know if the lte will be based on LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 (i9505) or on LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100 – (SGH-i337). i hope its the former, so that it will be also good internationally. (they did say for US markets, no word about Lte compatibility internationally)
