After the roll out of JWR66Y OTA Update for the HTC One GP edition that took place yesterday, the other Google Play Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S4 GP, will receive the new updating files starting today. Check your device’s notification panel or the Software Update menu and see if the update is available for installation.
AOSP Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OTA Update released today for the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition device has the build number set to JWR66Y and it is a small security fix that should better secure your smartphone’s firmware. The same update has been release by Google several weeks ago for their Nexus devices. This means that Samsung and HTC are thoroughly supporting their GPe flagship devices, so that the Galaxy S4 and HTC One buyers will experience the latest Jelly Bean firmware.
At the moment this Android 4.3 security update rolls in phases which means that more and more Galaxy S4 Google Play devices will get it starting with tomorrow and, by the end of this month all users who own such device will run the JWR66Y firmware. There aren’t any notable changes coming with this update, as the file only measures a couple of MB.
If your device didn’t receive the OTA Update notification, then you should open Settings, go to Software Update and press the ‘Check now’ button. If the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is available then click the Install button and wait for the process to complete. If the update isn’t available, then you should be patient and wait until it reaches your Galaxy S4 device.
Did you receive the update? If you did, are there any other changes you noticed compared with the previous Android 4.3 build?
