The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now being rolled out for the AT&T variant of the smartphone. As you may know, the AT&T Galaxy S4 Mini was still rocking Android 4.2 even though other carriers like Verizon or US Cellular rolled out the KitKat update since June. So, if you happen to own an AT&T Galaxy S4 you should keep an eye on the notifications bar.
AT&T officially revealed on their website that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Android 4.4.2 OTA update is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. As you may know, once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. If the system update notification failed to appear, you would also be able to check for the update manually under Settings > More > About device > Software update > Check for updates. Alternatively, you can grab the USB cable, connect your S4 Mini to the PC, then check for the update trough KIES.
The Android 4.4.2 update for Galaxy S4 Mini arrives with the usual KitKat goodies such as transparent status bar, white status bar icons, cloud printing, new Location menu, full screen album and movie art, cloud printing, immersive mode, or color emoji support, along with TouchWiz UI improvements and updated Samsung native apps. You will also get a smarter and improved Samsung Keyboard, bug fixes, and more AT&T bloatware.
It’s also worth noting that the new firmware has build number I257UCU2BNG4 and that it might have a size of over 800 MB. Therefore, it’s recommended to download the update file using a stable WiFi network in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
