The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to be released in the near future, but we still don’t know for sure what the device it will be packing in terms of hardware. Nevertheless, according to a report that comes from Samsung and Korea Investment & Securities, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is meant to not be so different from its bigger brother, in order to make it more appealing to the public than the Galaxy S3 Mini, which has not been such a popular device among the customers.
So, the report suggests that the Galaxy S4 Mini will pack a 1.6 Ghz dual-core Exynos 5210 CPU, which, if the rumor proves to be true, will be much powerful than the Galaxy S3 Mini powered by the unknown NovaThor U8420 created by St-Ericsson. For now we don’t know much the performance of the Exynos 5210 as it seems that it’s not the same CPU as the usual Exynos Dual, also known as Exynos 5250. Rumos has is the Exynos 5210 is actually a big.LITTLE architecture CPU, which uses two A7 cores, as well as two A15 cores.
Moving forward, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will also come with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen that will have a pixel resolution of 960 x 540. We would have expected at least a 720p resolution, but this also ins an improvement compared to the Galaxy S3 Mini’s 800 x 480 resolution.
When it comes to memory, the smartphone is said to come packing 1 GB of RAM, but the rumors suggest that there will also be a 4G LTE version that will have 2 GB of RAM. Further, the S4 Mini will sport an 8 MP camera located on its back side (better than the 5 MP camera of the S3 Mini), while even though we are certain that he handset will have a front-facing camera, too, its resolution is not mentioned.
If we think about it, the specs for the camera and the memory are similar to the technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (we’re talking about the 8 MP camera and the 2GB of RAM that will be included by the LTE version of the Galaxy S4 Mini). In other words, we can talk about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini as being a Galaxy S3 with a smaller display, sort of. With this in mind, then we assume that the front camera will be a 1.9 MP one that will be capable of recording 720p HD video at 30 FPSs.
There is an odd thing about the report, as well, as it claims that the Galaxy S4 Mini will be running Android 4.0, which is certainly some sort of mistake considering the fact that even the S3 Mini is currently running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Therefore, the Galaxy S4 Mini will most likely run the same Android version as the Galaxy S4, namely Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
If the specs turn out to be accurate would you consider buying a Galaxy S4 Mini?
