Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be announced in May 2014, with the release date somewhere in early June. We’ve seen hundreds of rumors about it here at Android Geeks we managed to find out some insider information about it, but rumors keep flowing along with concept renders from various people.
We’ll present you the concepts we’ve been able to find, but don’t expect it to look like that, because most of them aren’t realistic at all and are only meant to look extraordinary. It’s possible for a smartphone to look like those concepts, but don’t expect it to be released next year.
Foldable Galaxy S5 Concept
This concept comes from MobiLeaks and the phone uses a flexible display that allows you to fold it in order to be easier to pocket. We’ve already seen flexible displays presented by Samsung, so the technology exists, but we doubt they could make the entire device fold exactly as MobileLeaks imagine it.
Edge-to-edge display and realistic design
Concept Phones have a much more realistic concept of the Galaxy S5. It features an edge-to-edge display with a resolution higher than 1,080×1,920, though we doubt they’ll increase the resolution any further on such a small display. We should’ve seen the displays presented by Samsung already.
Thinner bezel and less rounded corners
This concept also looks pretty realistic and it does have an awesome design, though I find it really hard to use the physical home button and softkeys located so low on the device. It doesn’t look like you could use them with only one hand, considering it’s a relatively big device. This concept is expected to feature a 5.3″ display with a 1,080×1,920 pixels resolution.
Foldable and expandable display concepts by Samsung
This video shows how the future smartphones might look like and it’s made by Samsung, who are well known for their innovation in display technologies.
Tiny bezel and no physical buttons Galaxy S5 concept
This ad mockup shows a Galaxy S5 with a really tiny bezel and no physical buttons. The phone really looks great, but we don’t expect it to become real anytime soon. Samsung is probably going to stick with their design concepts, so the Galaxy S5 will be pretty similar to the Galaxy S4. The ad also states “with full eye sense control,” and we really expect Samsung to improve the motion and eye tracking controls and even add more similar features.
Bonus: Samsung Galaxy S6 with tiny bezel and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
This concept looks really nice, though it’s not finished very well. We don’t know what to expect from the Galaxy S6, but it should come indeed with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, considering that it’s probably going to be released in 2015. The future the designer imagined for it are: 20MP camera primary camera, along with a 4 or 7 MP frontal one, 64GB of internal memory, metallic body, 4,000 mAh battery and more.
Bonus #2: Galaxy S6 with GravityUX
Here’s one more concept of the Galaxy S6, which features a rounded display, which should make it easier to use. This one features a non-rectangular flexible 4.5″ Super AMOLED display, hyperskin nano-coating, oleophobic, hydrophobic, scratch-proof, shatter-proof and flexible casing. It should come with Android 6.0 with GravityUX and the battery lifetime is a whole week.
