Samsung has just released the new Galaxy S5 and it does come with a lot of new features and better specs, but let’s see how it compares to the previous two models, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3.
The three smartphones have been released one year away from each other and they are still available on the market, so you should see which one is worth the money for you, depending on what you need from a device.
It’s pretty clear that the Galaxy S5 is the most powerful between the three of them, but it also comes with the highest price tag. So if you’re looking for a cheaper device, then read the rest of our article to see how the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 compare.
Samsung kept increasing the display size and has also improved their quality, so you will notice differences between them. The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8″ 720×1280 pixels display with a density of 306 PPI. The Galaxy S4 sports a 5″ display, while the Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1″ one and both have the same resolution. Their pixel density is also similar, but the Galaxy S5’s display has been significantly improved, being sharper and more bright.
The Galaxy S5 is clearly the best out of the three, but if you’re looking for a smaller and cheaper device, then the Galaxy S3 is still a very good smartphone.
You will notice differences between the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, but there aren’t major differences in speed between the S4 and the S5.
The Galaxy S3 comes with a 1.4Ghz quad-core Exynos 4 processor, Galaxy S4 has a 1.9Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 600, while the Galaxy S5 sports a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801.
If you’re looking for a powerful smartphone, then you should probably choose the Galaxy S4 or S5, because the Galaxy S3 also comes with only 1GB of RAM, while the other two sport 2GB.
Probably this is the biggest differences between the three smartphones. Galaxy S3’s camera is decent, but it won’t take amazing pictures, like we’ve managed to do with the S5. If camera is an important aspect for you, then you should clearly choose the Galaxy S5, because it’s simply amazing. It comes with Phase detection autofocus, HDR, manual focus and a 16 MP sensor with an F2.2 aperture size and 1/2.6″ sensor size.
The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 have pretty similar cameras, but you will notice quality enhancements in the latter.
If you don’t really need a high quality camera, then Galaxy S3 can be a good choice, especially considering it’s available for a very low price.
All Samsung smartphones come with a lot of features and usually new Android updates bring new features to older smartphones. This means the Galaxy S3, S4, and S5 will have almost the same features. What you will miss if you pick the Galaxy S4 or S3 is the heart rate sensor and fingerprint scanner.
Apart from that, you will have the same features once you update to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which is rumored to be released in April or May for the Galaxy S3.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for features, you don’t really have to pay for them, as you will get them on older smartphones too, which is a really great thing.
You’re probably looking for a Galaxy S3 or S4 instead of the new S5 due to price considerations. And that’s not a bad thing at all, considering that Samsung didn’t do anything revolutionary with their latest smartphones, so you will be good with an older one too.
