The Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is now being pushed to Sprint users, so if you happen to own this particular variant of the device you should keep an eye on the notification bar.
As usual, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Android 4.4.2 update is being rolled out in phases which means that some of you might not be able to download and install the update right away. According to Samsung’s website the new update for Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has build number T217SVPUBNE7.
The new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 arrives with an improved lock screen offering access for Media Controls and Camera Shortcut, allows the user to choose that SMS app to use as default, and brings redesigned transparent status and navigation bars. You should also be able to notice the new Location Menu which arrives with three location modes, and updates for Samsung’s native apps and improved Samsung Keyboard.
The new software update also brings support for color emoji, cloud printing, immersive mode, full screen album and movie art in the lock screen and more.
Once your Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 becomes eligible to receive the Android 4.4.2 update you should receive a system update message in the notification area. If the system update message fails to appear you should also check for the update manually under Settings > More > About device > Software updates > Check for software updates, or grab the USB cable, connect the tablet to the PC, and check for the update via KIES.
The new update should have a size of over 500 MB, therefore it’s recommended to use a stable WiFi connection to avoid unwanted data charges.
