It seems Samsung is up to its old business of releasing Android running smartphones by the dozens, and has yet to see why HTC opted for a more reasonable approach. Nevertheless, while the entire world is waiting for the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the South Korean giant has been found working on another device simply named Jasper. Thanks to the guys from pocketnow.com we can now present you some of the specs and features of this new Samsung device.
The first mention of the Samsung Jasper name came from a Bluetooth SIG, but the device itself has been tracked down to a GLBenchmark entry. This is the place where Jasper has revealed some of its specs and frankly, we were a bit surprised to find out what it packs.
First thing that came to thought was that the Samsung Jasper was found to be on the Verzion network, and it also beard the official name of SCH-I200. This is very interesting as it tells us that this Jasper might just be something similar to the AT&T version of the HTC One X. Just like its competition, the SCH I200 will be packing a dual core Krait packing Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. This is currently regarded as one of the top choices in the high end processors, and along with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 it is the most powerful smartphone processor to date.
Another strange feature of the Jasper, is the 480×800 pixels resolution display, which is short of even the middle end newer devices. This spec is very strange, as it will be the first implementation of an older resolution display on the Krait Snapdragon chipset. This means that if the specs do not change, it will be the new king of performance in the market.
The software powering the Jasper is Android 4.0 ICS, and it is no doubt the same version that will make an appearance on the 3rd of May in the next Galaxy smartphone.
These are all the details we could figure out from the benchmark info, so we will keep you updated if anything else appears from the realm of the rumors.
