Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab E 8.0 with 4G LTE Support in Taiwan

Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0

Last year in June, Samsung announced a new tablet joined that portfolio. Called Galaxy Tab E, the new device had a 9.6-inch screen and WiFi-only connectivity. Today, the South Korean giant introduced an 8-inch variant of the tablet in Taiwan, called Galaxy Tab E 8.0. Unlike the bigger model, Galaxy Tab E 8.0 has support for 4G LTE connections. Besides the connectivity additions, the new tablet comes with slightly upgraded specifications, but also with a higher price.

On the technical specifications list of the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 you will be able to find features such as an 8-inch TFT screen with WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution and 189 ppi pixel density, a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor at 1.3 GHz mated with an Adreno 306 GPU, and 1.5 GB of RAM. The tablet has 16 GB of native storage and a microSD card slot which supports up to 128 GB of extra storage. With the purchase of the tablet you will also get 100 GB of OneDrive cloud storage for free.

On the back of the terminal there’s a 5 MP main camera that lacks the LED flash, while the front panel accommodates a 2 MP secondary cam for your video chat and selfie needs. Galaxy Tab E 8.0 has support for voice calling while bringing connectivity options such as 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS / A-GPS, and mciroUSB 2.0. In terms of design, the new Galaxy Tab E 8.0 looks similar to the original, bigger version.

The tablet comes pre-loaded with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop customized with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz skin. For easy access to documents it comes with pre-installed Microsoft Office apps. The South Koreans have made deals with a handful online content providers so the tablet offers premium services for a limited time. There’s also the “Kids Time Plus” app which provides educational and entertainment content for the little ones.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 is kept alive by a 5,000 mAh battery which, according to the manufacturer, it’s capable of getting the tablet through up to 13 hours of internet usage and video playback. The device is 212.1 mm tall, 126.1 mm wide, and 8.9 mm thin and it’s available in Classic White body color.

As I was mentioning above, the tablet is currently available exclusively in Taiwan at a price of TWD 8,990 which translates into about USD270. For the time being there’s no information whether the new tablet will be launched globally.
